Want the truth behind MSG? Chef Yek to reveal all
In honor of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Chef Grace Yek (Program Chair for the Culinary & Food Science bachelor’s degree) will lead a Facebook event, “Cooking & Conversation: The Truth Behind MSG,” on Wednesday, May 19, from 7 to 8 p.m.

- Chef Yek will discuss the art and science of MSG (monosodium glutamate), its craveability and tainted reputation, as well as its cultural nuances and link to Asian cuisine.
- During the online conversation, Chef Yek will prepare okonomiyaki (savory pancakes).
- Event collaborators are the Cincinnati Museum Center and the Asian American Cultural Association of Cincinnati.
Chef Yek also will be featured in a live radio interview on WVXU’s “Cincinnati Edition” on Monday, May 17, at noon, where she will preview the May 19 event.
