Welcome Counseling Services Triage Coordinator Eric Smith
Eric S. Smith is the new full-time Triage Coordinator for Cincinnati State’s Counseling Services office.
As Triage Coordinator, Eric’s role is to provide students with one-on-one short-term services, including crisis intervention, referrals to community and college resources, and scheduling follow-up appointments as needed.
Eric has over 30 years of diverse experience in the field of social services, including direct service and supervisorial roles in areas such as foster care; working with homeless young adults; individual and couples counseling; and serving children, adolescents, and adults struggling with mild to severe mental illness.
- Eric is a Licensed Social Worker and a Certified Trauma and Resilience Practitioner. He has a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and a master’s degree in Public Health and Administration from the University of Cincinnati.
- He also also completed a master’s degree in Religion from Trinity International University.
Eric said, “I am really looking forward to working in a college setting for the first time.”
“I think my experiences have prepared me well for the position of Triage Coordinator, and I’m excited about helping students who are struggling get connected to resources so they can realize their full potential and fulfill their aspirations to further their education,” he added.
Eric enjoys spending time with his friends and family, which includes his wife and three adult children. He also enjoys traveling, reading, listening to and writing music, and playing guitar.
