Sabbatical application deadline extended to Mar. 15

The deadline for faculty members to submit an application for a sabbatical leave during the 2021-22 academic year has been extended to Monday, Mar. 15.

All full-time, tenured faculty members are eligible to apply for a sabbatical leave of 1 or 2 semesters to complete activities such as:

  • studies for an advanced degree
  • return-to-industry experiences
  • other research or creative projects that are beneficial to the faculty member and the College

Details of the sabbatical leave process are described in the AAUP Collective Bargaining Agreement.

  • Requests for sabbatical leave are reviewed first by the Sabbatical Board that includes faculty members elected via processes facilitated by the Faculty Senate. Other members of the Sabbatical Board are the four academic Deans and the Director of the Library.

  • Applications recommended by the Sabbatical Board are then reviewed by the Provost and the College President. The final step is approval by the College’s Board of Trustees.

Faculty members who are eligible to apply for sabbatical leave and have questions should contact the Sabbatical Board co-chairs, Aaron Bloomfield and Carla Gesell-Streeter.
