Condolences to the family of Gary Boyle

Gary Boyle, a Counselor at Cincinnati State from 2006 until 2016, died on July 17, 2020.

Gary was a key contributor to Cincinnati State’s Black Male Initiative and became part of the student organization’s advisory board soon after joining the College faculty.

As chair of the advisory board, Gary helped BMI grow into an organization that helped students become more engaged in the College and their external community, and helped improve retention rates for black male students.

According to his colleagues, Gary was a man of faith as well as an effective counselor, teacher, and friend, who showed compassion for those who came into his company.

in addition to meeting with students and consulting with colleagues, Gary served on College committees, presented workshops on campus, and presented at state and local professional conferences.

His colleagues noted that they valued the wisdom Gary often shared, including this advice (from Wayne Dwyer): “Change the way you look at things and the things you look at will change.”
