Annual Fund Giving Challenge for 21-22 starts today
The Annual Fund Giving Challenge for 2021-2022-- an internal fundraising campaign that supports our students and programs through contributions to the Cincinnati State Foundation-- starts today, Nov. 22, and will continue until Friday, Dec. 10.
- All donations-- small or not-so-small-- are welcomed and valued.
- You can choose how you want to direct your gift, by selecting:
- a scholarship fund
- a division or campus fund that provides funds for purchasing classroom equipment or other support for teaching and learning
- a special initiative such as CState Accelerate, the Career Closet, the Surge Pantry Food Cupboard, or other projects and services
- Options for giving are listed on on the pledge form (click to download).
Team Captains will lead Giving Challenge activities in academic divisions and support areas on all Cincinnati State campuses. These volunteers are:

Drawings for individual prizes (gift cards for Starbucks, McDonald’s and Skyline) will start Wednesday, Dec. 1, and continue on Dec. 3, Dec. 6, and Dec. 8.
- The sooner you turn in your pledge form, the more chances you'll have to win one of these treats!
To turn in your pledge:
- If you choose to donate via payroll deduction, you can give your completed pledge card to a Team Captain, or email the form to Kim Taylor (email@example.com)
- Payroll deduction pledges will begin with the Dec. 24, 2021, pay period and continue for 14 pay periods, until June 24, 2022
- If you are writing a check, please send your pledge form and check to Kim Taylor, Alumni and Development Affairs Manager, Cincinnati State, 3520 Central Parkway, ATLC 337, Cincinnati, OH 45223
- If you are on Clifton Campus, you may drop off your pledge form in ATLC Room 352

PACE Survey deadline is Nov. 23
All Cincinnati State employees are encouraged to complete the 2021 PACE (Personal Assessment of the Campus Environment) Campus Climate Survey by the deadline-- 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 23.
If you haven't already submitted your survey, look for a recent email message with the subject line "Cincinnati State - PACE Survey."
- The PACE survey is conducted every three years at Cincinnati State. The higher the response rate, the more accurate the survey results are in describing employees' views of our entire institution. Your opinions matter!
- PACE is a nationally-normed survey facilitated by the independent Belk Center for Community College Leadership and Research at North Carolina State University.
- PACE examines five elements of a community college's organizational culture: Institutional Structure, Student Focus, Supervisory Relationships, Teamwork, and Overall Climate.
- Individual responses to the survey are completely confidential. If you have questions, you can contact Senior Reseach Analyst Lynn Sadowski (email@example.com).
Note: The language of some PACE survey questions has changed this year, and sometimes refers to “supervisor/chair.” When survey participants see mention of "supervisor/chair," please answer in relation to your non-academic department manager or supervisor or your academic division dean or associate dean.
The “chair” is an administrative title at some other higher education institutions; however, at Cincinnati State, program and department chairs are not supervisors of other employees. When faculty members (full-time and adjunct) answer these PACE questions you should be thinking about academic administrators at the level of dean, associate dean, or director.
Possible login problems today
Information Technology Services reports that today, Nov. 22, some users of College online resources are experiencing sporadic problems logging in.
This problem is probably associated with the new external firewall that was installed on Nov. 21.
ITS is investigating the problems and will provide updates to College technology users. Look for information in the "Technology System Status" area after you log in to MyServices/Blackboard.
Employee Vax Incentive program adds incentives & announces Week 3 winners
Additional incentives have been added to the Employee Vaccination Incentive program, effective immediately.
- Starting Nov. 22, when you turn in the Employee Vaccination Incentive eForm and provide proof that you're already fully vaccinated, you can receive a $50 gift card.
- When you turn in the eForm and provide proof that you've obtained (on Nov. 22 or after) your first shot of a 2-dose vaccine, or completed a 1-dose vaccine, you can receive a $100 gift card.
- Gift cards will be provided through the Human Resources Office, but distribution of the new gift cards might begin after the Thanksgiving break.
- In addition, all fully and partly-vaccinated employees who complete the eForm continue to be eligible for weekly prize drawings (taking place Nov. 22 and 29 and Dec. 6, 13, and 20) and fully-vaccinated employees are entered in the $5,000 grand prize drawing that will take place Dec. 20.
As of Nov. 19, a total of 270 College employees have entered the Incentive Program. No new vaccinations have been reported.

Student Vax Incentive increases participation & names Week 6 winners
Providing easier access to the Student Vaccination Incentive Program eForm, along with some additional outreach via text message, led to a boost in participation in the incentive program.
As of Nov. 19, more than 1,250 students have submitted the eForm indicating they are fully vaccinated, and more than 50 students have reported receiving their first COVID-19 vaccine since the incentive program started.
The new eForm link is https://web3.cincinnatistate.edu/eforms/eform.aspx?form_id=2033. Log in is not required; this link goes directly to the eForm.
- Faculty and staff members are encouraged to share the link with students who have not yet entered the incentive program.
- There is no drawing this week, but weekly cash prizes will be awarded on Dec. 1, 8, and 15 and the $10,000 grand prize will be awarded on Dec. 15.

CTL webinar series explores Post-Traumatic Growth
The Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) is offering to Cincinnati State employees a webinar series on Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG), which is defined as the ability to "find new meaning from highly challenging and highly stressful life circumstances."
The webinar series developed by CTL Learning Facilitator Dr. Valencia Moses includes four 30-minute sessions.
Participants will earn one Continuing Education Credit (CEU) after viewing all four sessions, and can earn up to 2 additional CEUs by choosing to complete reflection worksheets that you'll to return to the CTL.

Wilmington to offer Master of Organizational Leadership classes at CState
Wilmington College Cincinnati invites Cincinnati State faculty and staff members to learn more about the Wilmington Master of Organizational Leadership program at information sessions next week.
The master's degree program will begin in Spring Semester 2022, with classes offered on Cincinnati State’s campus.
Two in-person "lunch and learn" sessions are available:
- Tuesday, Nov. 30, noon to 1 p.m., Main 180
- Wednesday, Dec. 1, noon to 1 p.m., Main 180
Lunch will be provided and you'll learn about the program curriculum, the admissions process, and more.

Horticulture Club Poinsettia Sale begins for 2021
The Annual Horticulture Club Poinsettia Sale offers the College community the opportunity to acquire beautiful seasonal plants while supporting our Horticulture students.
Pre-ordering is required and payment (at pick-up) must use a credit or debit card.
All poinsettias are in 6.5 inch pots and the price is $10 each.

Food Sensory Science Seminar on Dec. 3 is open to all
The Culinary and Food Science (CFS) bachelor's degree program is hosting a team from ADM/WILD Flavors on Friday, Dec. 3, from 11 a.m. to 1:50 p.m., to discuss and practice how to properly articulate the experiences of eating and drinking.
Interested members of the College community are invited to attend this seminar on "Sensory Science & How to Taste, Describe and Give Guidance," which is part of the course CFS 340, Colloquium on Current Food Topics.
The in-person, interactive event will include tasting samples, learning about the language that provides the starting points for "flavor wheels" for different food categories, and understanding how food industry professionals apply the language of sensory science to gain insights from consumers.
Time permitting, the ADM team might conduct a mock consumer test by phone.
