Welcome, BTD Associate Dean Audrey Woods

Audrey Woods has joined Cincinnati State as the new Associate Dean in the Business Technologies Division.

Audrey has been working in higher education for 15 years in a variety of roles.

Most recently she served as the Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management at the Kline School of Law at Drexel University (Philadelphia, PA), where she managed the admissions and communications teams as well as new program development.

She was a key leader in the creation and growth of the school’s first fully online program, the Master of Legal Studies degree.

Previously, Audrey worked at the University of Pennsylvania in the student union as an event coordinator and then as the manager of a student entrepreneurship program.

While working at Penn, she developed a strong interest in on-campus student employment and wrote her thesis on the topic. She is passionate about the importance of hands-on learning experiences.

Audrey holds a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration from Drexel University, where she took extensive coursework in adult learning and leadership. She received her bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Kentucky.

Audrey is married with two children, ages 3 and 7. She is a Northern Kentucky native and is thrilled to be back home, serving a community she loves.

College Drive closed today (and here's why)

Today, Oct, 15, College Drive is closed to all vehicles until 6 p.m. because of the fire loop repair project.

Photos above and below show some of the processes required to install the new pipes for the fire loop. Work has been moving steadily down the hill, and will cross the drive today.

  • Those who usually park in Lot A or Lot D need to use a parking garage or Lot C today.

  • Your cooperation while College improvements are in process is appreciated.

  • Thanks, Tony Waite, for the pics!

CState volunteers helped Great Parks with seed harvesting

On Saturday, Sep. 25, Cincinnati State faculty, staff members, students (and family members like Rick Shumate, above, husband of faculty member Deb Shumate) participated in a seed harvesting event at the prairie fields near Shaker Trace Nursery in Harrison, Ohio.

The prairie fields are part of the Great Parks of Hamilton County, and a University of Cincinnati field studies area for programs in agriculture and archaeology.

The College volunteers harvested seeds from the native partridge pea plant (photo at right), an important species found in prairies.

Great Parks event facilitator Tim Osborne and Volunteer Coordinator Niki Marengo thanked Cincinnati State for helping out and said they welcome future collaborations with the College.

Milene Donlin, who coordinated this event for the Celebrating Community Committee, said the students who participated appreciated the ability to connect with nature and serve their community in a positive way.

The Celebrating Community Committee hopes to schedule additional outdoor community service events in 2022.

It's Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month

Cincinnati State's Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program invites the College community to join the celebration of Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month 2021.

The purpose of the annual October event is to create awareness of the role diagnostic medical sonographers play in the medical community and to educate the public about medical ultrasound and its many uses in healthcare.

The skill and eyes of diagnostic medical sonographers capture life-changing images for patients and provide an essential link in their health journey.

DMS Professor Jackie Turner said DMS students usually celebrate with a social event, but pandemic operations may postpone this year's gathering.

As an alternative, Jackie and the DMS students ask you to watch, learn, and enjoy this video showcase on sonography and the important contributions of diagnostic medical sonographers.
