Some Summer grades are due after Fall semester starts

Aug 14, 2020

Final grades for Summer 15-week classes are due Aug. 25– the day after Fall semester begins on Aug. 24.

Students in Summer 15-week classes will be able to view their grades in MyServices starting Wednesday, Aug. 26, and de-enrollment will take place on Aug. 26 also.

For Summer Semester 10-week classes, grades were due Aug. 11, and should already be viewable to students in MyServices.

  • De-enrollment is the process implemented by the Registrar’s Office to remove students from Fall courses if they did not earn a passing grade in a Summer course that was a prerequisite to the Fall course.

  • Students who are de-enrolled need to adjust their schedules and re-take the prerequisite class.

  • Typically, de-enrollment changes occur prior to the start of a new semester.

  • The unusual grading/de-enrollment timeline for Summer 2020 was a result of a calendar change last year that “pushed back” the start of Spring Semester and put the last day of Summer Semester on Aug. 22.

Prior to the pandemic, it was anticipated that only a small number of 15-week classes would end on Aug. 22 and have delayed grading. However, with the change to an all-remote Summer schedule, additional 15-week classes were added.

  • Instructors of Fall courses should examine your roster carefully after Aug. 26 since some students may be dropped during the first week of the Fall class through de-enrollment action.

  • Instructors of 15-week Summer courses that are prerequisites to other courses should consider reaching out now to students who are in danger of failing. These students should be directed to meet with an advisor to discuss how failing your course could affect the students’ plans for Fall.

Faculty members who need more information should consult with your program or department chair, or an academic administrator in your division.
