"Annual Fund Giving Challenge" continues through Oct. 29
The Internal Annual Fund Giving Challenge for 2019-2020-- a fundraising campaign that supports our students and programs through the Cincinnati State Foundation-- started on Charter Day (Sep. 19, 2019) and will continue until Oct. 29, 2019.
Oct. 29 is also the day the College will host employers for the Co-op Appreciation/50th Anniversary Celebration.
Campaign information and pledge forms are being distributed to employee mailboxes this week.
- All donations-- small or not-so-small-- are welcomed and valued.
- The goal is 100% participation.
A strong response to the internal campaign demonstrates that we are committed to our mission, and helps inspire additional support from donors throughout Greater Cincinnati during the College's 50th Anniversary year.
- As in past years, friendly interdivisional/interdepartmental fundraising competition is a part of the internal campaign-- including Coin Wars, scheduled for Oct. 14 through Oct. 25.
Team Captains will be sharing more information soon about plans for having fun while fundraising. These volunteers are:

Drawings for individual prizes will start Friday, Oct. 4, and will continue each Friday throughout October. The sooner you turn in your pledge card, the more chances you'll have to win fabulous prizes.
- The Oct. 4 drawing winner will receive two tickets to the Alumni Association's "Jingle Bell Rock," an evening of dinner, dancing, and entertainment, taking place Dec. 6.
You can give your completed pledge card to a Team Captain, or send the form to the Advancement/Development Office (ATLC 337).

Lt. Gov. Husted launched Ohio's new "TechCred" program at CState
Cincinnati State's President Monica Posey welcomed Ohio Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted (center) and Rep. Jon Cross, House of Representatives District 83 (left) to the College on Sep. 25, to announce the start of Ohio's new TechCred program.
The TechCred program supports workforce development efforts in Ohio by reimbursing employers who upgrade their workers' skills.
- Employers can be reimbursed up to $2,000 per employee if their employees complete eligible technology-focused credentials.
- Designated providers of credentials include universities, community colleges like Cincinnati State and CState's Workforce Development Center, technical centers, and some private training providers.
- Eligible credentials must be short-term programs of less than 30 credit hours (or 900 clock hours) that can be completed in 12 months or less.
Cincinnati State was Lt. Gov. Husted's first stop on a 2-week tour of partner institutions throughout Ohio to promote the new program.
WCPO-TV (Ch. 9) covered the announcement on the 6 p.m. news broadcast on Sep. 25.

College guests for the TechCred program announcement included Cincinnati-area legislators Rep. Catherine Ingram, House of Representatives District 32 (left), and Rep. Brigid Kelly, House of Representatives District 31 (right).
Lt. Gov. Husted and other visitors toured some of the College's advanced manufacturing technology labs, and saw equipment demonstrations by faculty member Zane Decker and his students.

Helpers needed for upcoming "Admit Me" days
Faculty and staff volunteers are needed to welcome and assist new students on Clifton Campus during Saturday "Admit Me" days in Fall semester and early January.
You can sign up now to help at "Admit Me" days on Nov. 2, 2019, Dec. 7, 2019, and Jan. 4, 2020.

At these Saturday events, students who are planning to enter Cincinnati State in Spring Semester 2020 can:
- Complete their application for admission
- Take placement tests, if needed
- Talk with Financial Aid staff and begin the financial aid application process
- Get help selecting a major and investigating career options
- Schedule appointments for academic advising and new student orientation
If you'd like to plan ahead, volunteers will be needed for additional "Admit Me" days in 2020. These sessions will assist new students planning to start their college classes in Summer 2020 or Fall 2020.
Event dates are: Feb. 1; Mar. 7; Apr. 4; May 2; June 6, 12, and 24; July 11 and 20; and Aug. 1.

Historical Society Brown Bag Lunch topic on Oct. 2 is "History of Spanking"
The Cincinnati State Historical Society Brown Bag Lunch series for 2019-20 begins Wednesday, Oct. 2.
Kelly Hubbard, a faculty member in the Early Childhood Education program, will discuss "The History of Spanking."
The program takes place from noon to 12:50 p.m. in Main Conference Center Room 342 on Clifton Campus.
All CState students and employees are welcome to bring your lunch (as well as your perspectives on appropriate disciplinary techniques for children) and enjoy this learning experience.
In addition to the discussion, participants can join a raffle for a $15 Graeter's gift card.

Want to lead a Study Abroad/Service Learning activity?
Faculty and staff members who are interested in leading or helping to facilitate the College's Study Abroad/Service Learning program in Guatemala, Central America, are invited to an information session on Wednesday, Oct. 2, to learn more about this opportunity.
The information session is from 3 to 4 p.m. in ATLC Room 301.
Professors Rosa Maria Moreno and Samuel Rowe, the coordinators of the Guatemala program for more than five years, will discuss:

Retail Bakers' Golf Outing on Oct. 7 supports MCI students
The Greater Cincinnati Retail Bakers Association (GCRBA) invites members of the College community to join the organization's Golf Outing to support Midwest Culinary Institute Pastry Arts Students.
The Golf Outing is Monday, Oct. 7, at Aston Oaks Golf Club in North Bend, Ohio.
- The entry fee is $80 per golfer, and includes greens fee, cart, box lunch, drink tickets, and a buffet dinner.
- Sponsor opportunities are available for those who want to support the event but can't attend the outing.
