CTL offers Symposium for faculty on Aug. 22

All Cincinnati State faculty members (full-time and adjunct) and academic administrators are invited to attend the Center for Teaching and Learning "ACT (Activate/Cultivate/Transform) Symposium" on Thursday, Aug. 22, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Conference Center on Clifton Campus.

A similar event open to College staff members is planned for Spring Semester.

According to CTL Director Julee Johns, the ACT Symposium "is a day to explore and reflect on key aspects of you, your career, and the colleagues and students in your life. You will learn about ways to improve your teaching and interactions with students, while also learning how to align your service to the College with activities that embody your personal values."

Participants will take action, both physically and intellectually, that will lead to more meaningful interactions with students and build more meaningful relationships with other members of the College community.

The Symposium includes presentations and exhibits by local and national partner organizations, and includes breakfast and lunch sponsored by Whole Foods.

To register for the Symposium, visit: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-cincinnati-state-center-for-teaching-and-learning-act-symposium-registration-67292510711. The first 150 registrants will have confirmed seats and will receive a swag bag.

You'll see when you register that an "event ticket" is $25; however, your academic division can sponsor your attendance. Donations to help support this event and other CTL activities are accepted, with appreciation.

Registered participants will receive additional information about the Symposium itinerary.

If you have questions, contact CTL Director Julee Johns at CTL@cincinnatistate.edu.

"Kids Closet" seeks donations to assist students who are parents

The Cincinnati State Parenting Resource Center, in collaboration with the Early Childhood Education program and the Counseling Center, is establishing a "Kids Closet" on Clifton Campus to assist our students who are also parents.

If you are sorting through your kids' clothing as you prepare for the upcoming school year and the eventual change of seasons, you're invited to donate clean, outgrown apparel for children ages newborn through teens to the Kids Closet, located in Main 135B, the Parenting Resource Center.

The Kids Closet also accepts donated new diapers, pull-ups, socks, and underwear.

You can drop off donations at the Parenting Resource Center (Main 135B), the Early Childhood Education program office (Main 126), or the Counseling Center (Main 171).

If you have questions or want to assist, contact Denise Gabrelski, Director of the Parenting Resource Center (denise.gabrelski@cincinnatistate.edu) or Sandy Owen, ECE Program Chair (sandra.owen@cincinnatistate.edu).

Thanks for your support of this new venture on behalf of our students!
