Parking restrictions in Lot D on Feb. 11
Some employee parking spaces in Lot D (black-striped areas on the map above) will NOT be available on Monday, Feb. 11, to accommodate deliveries of materials for the Biology laboratories that are being renovated. (Click the image to see a larger view.)
The temporary restrictions include the handicapped parking spaces near the Health Professions Building.
The parking restrictions are needed to ensure that two large trucks can safely reach the entrance to the Health Professions Building, where unloading of materials will take place throughout the day.
- The parking spaces will be inaccessible on Feb. 11 until deliveries and unloading are completed, around 3 p.m.
- The pedestrian crosswalk between the Main Building and the Health Professions Building will be accessible, but those who are walking between buildings may experience occasional delays while trucks are being unloaded.
Signs will be in place to remind walkers and drivers of limitations on Feb. 11.
The Public Safety Department and the Facilities Department appreciate your cooperation in dealing with these temporary changes to your parking and/or walking on Clifton Campus.
Career Center Manager Kelly Harper welcomes students to Center services & events
Kelly Harper was recently appointed as the Manager (no longer interim) of the College's Career Center, located in ATLC Room 215 on Clifton Campus.
Kelly has been with the College for more than 14 years working in a variety of faculty and administrative roles, primarily focused on cooperative education and career services.
Kelly would like her colleagues to know that she is the proud owner of a beautiful Cockapoo named Barkley-- a female named after Sir Charles Barkley of basketball fame.
(Kelly also anticipates that long-time co-workers will probably be surprised that the name isn't something connected to UK sports.)
The Career Center is open daily for walk-in services for current and prospective students. Hours for Spring Semester are:
- Monday – 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- Tuesday – 1 - 6 p.m.
- Wednesday – 1 - 4 p.m.
- Thursday – 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- Friday – Noon – 2 p.m.
Students also can schedule appointments by sending an email message to email@example.com or calling (513) 569-4242. Scheduling appointments via Starfish will be available in the future.

Kelly said the Career Center's key service areas include assisting current and prospective students with career exploration, providing help preparing resumes and getting ready for job interviews, and offering workshops on career-related topics.
The Career Center also provides information about employment opportunities for Cincinnati State graduates, and job postings for non-degree-related work opportunities.

Career Closet craves contributions
Katrina Davis, Associate of Arts major and Career Closet Work-Study Student, has cleared out the old items and is ready to stock your new donations.
The Cincinnati State Career Closet, located on the lower level of the Main Building, provides career-appropriate attire at no charge to students preparing for interviews and co-op work assignments. (A referral from a co-op coordinator or faculty advisor is needed to use the Career Closet.)
Spring semester includes many job fairs, graduate interviews, and other career-related events (including the CState Career & Co-op Job Fair on Feb. 28), so this is a key time to restock the Closet-- and all members of the College community are invited to pitch in.
- While gently-used career wear is always welcome, new items are especially appreciated.
- The women’s section is currently in need of separates – basic yet stylish jackets, trousers, and skirts in all sizes.
- Shoes are also in short supply.
- For shoppers who live for end-of-season sales, this is a great time to pick up a couple of extra pieces to donate.
- Or if you wish to make a monetary donation, your contribution will be put to use by volunteer designated shoppers.

Will the Spirit Spotter see you showing CState Spirit?
Sharon Timon (left, in "official logo" t-shirt) and Jesse Brown were some of the January recipients of Secret Spirit Spotter gifts. They received a "cord taco" that holds and organizes charging cords, ear buds, and similar items. See below for pics of spirited January prize recipients Ron Jackson and Cara Benz.
From now through June of 2019, College employees can win prizes by showing your CState Spirit while on and off campus.
On-campus: Spirit Fridays!
Once each month, on a randomly-selected Friday, a CState Secret Spirit Spotter awards prizes to the first 50 College employees who are spotted wearing Cincinnati State attire.
- For this on-campus activity, any version of College spiritwear "counts"-- your attire does not have to show the official College logo.
- Since you won't know which Friday the spotter is secretly spotting spirit (maybe it's today; maybe not), of course you'll want to wear CState attire every Friday.
Off Campus: #CStateSpirit2019 social media campaign!
For this campaign, which continues until June 30, 2019, share on your social media accounts photos or video of yourself in public, in CState attire, along with the hashtag #CStateSpirit2019.
After the campaign ends on June 30, winners will be selected randomly from all qualified entries that have been posted. Prizes are: $250 VISA card (1st prize), $100 VISA card (2nd prize), and $50 VISA card (3rd prize).
- Each photo or video you post (along with the #CStateSpirit2019 hashtag) will count as a separate entry-- provided that you're not repeating the same image, and provided that you're wearing "official" Cincinnati State gear that includes the College logo.
- Your photo or video will be even better if it shows you talking about the College with someone who doesn't already know how great it is to be part of Cincinnati State.
FAQs for the social media campaign
Q: I don't have any clothing with the official College logo-- do I need to buy something?
A: No. But this month is your last chance to get your free Cincinnati State logo t-shirt from the Marketing Department Office, Main 175. (You might want to call ahead to 569-4124, to be sure staff members are in the office to assist you.)

Q: What's the point of this social media activity?
A: We're glad you asked. The primary purpose of the social media campaign is to "spread the word" about our College throughout the tri-state, with the help of dedicated and enthusiastic College employees.
Any time you're showing off Cincinnati State's name while you're in public, you're helping to build recognition for the College, and opening possibilities for a conversation about what CState has to offer. (We're tired of being a "best kept secret," aren't we?)
Sharing messages through social media also helps build recognition for the College, especially if the hashtag is used frequently.
Q: Does this contest have "fine print"?
A: Yep. Remember that only attire displaying an official College logo will "count" for the social media contest.
All Cincinnati State employees are eligible to participate. The contest winner must be an employee at the time of the drawing.
