Register now for Spring fitness programs
"Healthy is the New Happy" fitness programs on Clifton Campus begin Monday, Jan. 14.
Students in the Health & Fitness Technology Capstone course will lead three fitness classes:
- Facilitated Group Walking
- Couch to 5K Jogging
- Strength Training for Beginners
All three programs are available in four different 30-minute timeslots and will continue throughout Spring Semester:
- Monday & Wednesday, 1 to 1:30 p.m.
- Monday & Wednesday, 1:30 to 2 p.m.
- Tuesday & Thursday, noon to 12:30 p.m.
- Tuesday & Thursday, 12:30 to 1 p.m.
If you wish, you can sign up for two classes offered at different times each week.
Those who can't exercise with a group because of schedule conflicts can still participate, on their own, by following a weekly training schedule available at the Fitness Center.

Parking controls in place for start of semester
To help provide efficient access to parking on Clifton Campus at the start of the new semester, temporary restrictions are in place:
- Only the Ludlow Ave. entrance (with traffic light) is available for access to the Ludlow Garage, the Central Parkway Garage, and Lot C parking.
- Employees may continue to use College Drive for access to Lots A and D as well as the Ludlow Garage.
- The Central Parkway entrance is not available during the first weeks of the semester. An electronic sign directs drivers to use the Ludlow Ave. entrance. (The Central Parkway entrance will re-open on Saturday, Jan. 19.)
- New students who need to pick up their parking access card (Prox Card) can go to the Parking Services window, outside the Student Activities Office (ATLC 204).
- Additional Campus Police officers and parking service personnel are on duty during the first weeks of the semester to troubleshoot potential problems and assist students and employees who need help.

Free Coffee (Talk) Fridays scheduled for Jan. & Feb.
Free Coffee Friday conversations for Spring Semester begin this week.
For each Free Coffee Friday, a College administrator is on hand from 7:30 to 9 a.m. in the area adjacent to Bakery Hill, on the second floor of the ATLC.
Students as well as College employees are invited to join the administrators for informal information-sharing, questions, and/or feedback about College activities and operations.
A free small coffee or hot tea will be provided for each participant.

Condolences to the family of Crystal Bossard
Crystal Bossard, Emeritus Professor of Early Childhood Education and Sociology in the Humanities & Sciences Division, passed away on Dec. 25, 2018.
A Homegoing Service will take place Saturday, Jan. 12, at Gaines United Methodist Church, 5707 Madison Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45227.
Visitation begins at 10 a.m. and the memorial service begins at 11 a.m.
ENGAGE program welcomed counselors to CState
On Friday, Jan. 4, over 30 counselors from more than 20 different area high schools and organizations learned about Ohio higher education initiatives, and about Cincinnati State, during a day-long ENGAGE | Counselors event.
ENGAGE | Counselors is one of three annual ENGAGE events that bring high school students, teachers, counselors, and others to the Clifton Campus to gain first-hand knowledge and deeper understanding about the College's academic programs and support services.
During lunch, counselors helped generate data for the College's Strategic Plan (photo above). Dr. Posey asked the counselors for input on two questions:
- What will students of the future need from Cincinnati State to succeed?
- Do you have a vision of how Cincinnati State can be the college of choice with students, including those who typically only consider 4-year institutions?
